Governance at Huish Episcopi
The Academy Board of Directors
Directors at the Academy carry out an important and complex role. The Board consists of eighteen members, mainly drawn from the local area and includes six Parent Directors and three Staff Directors. They represent a wide range of experience and expertise and all serve in a voluntary capacity. In addition to regular meetings of the full Board, there are three Committees: Teaching and Learning, Finance and Premises and Pay and Personnel, all of whom meet on a regular basis. Since gaining Academy status, Directors now have an additional role as the employer of all members of staff and are also responsible for the running the Huish Leisure Centre.
The Directors work closely with the Principal and staff to shape the future of the Academy deciding priorities that will raise the academic standards and determining how the Academy will spend its funding to achieve these aims. All Directors are fully committed to providing the best education possible for students of the Academy.

On rare occasions when parents feel they have a complaint that cannot be resolved within the Academy, there are procedures in place to ask for Directors’ assistance. This is outlined in the Complaints Policy.
