Huish Academy

Health Behaviour Survey Important Notice

The Academy has been participating in a very important Health Behaviour Survey for Year 8 and Year 10 students, over a number of years.

The survey supports the work of the Local Authority and Public Health. Each questionnaire is both anonymous and confidential; no pupils are identified. Students do not have to answer any question that they might feel uncomfortable about. The content of the questions is based on information that students will be covering during their PSHE curriculum in school.

The Academy benefits substantially through participation in the survey because teachers' beliefs about the way of life of the youngsters in their charge are often based on unrepresentative knowledge of those familiar to them or distorted reporting through the media or grapevine.

The results of the survey enable us to select methods and materials for our PSHE programme.

The questions concern a wide range of health behaviours, for example:

Home and family

Tobacco and alcohol

Drugs

Healthy Eating

Relationships, emotional health and well-being,

Leisure and money

Sexual Health

Exercise

I hope that you will agree that this is a worthwhile exercise that helps us to plan improved health promotion for our pupils.

We do hold a copy of the questionnaire in the school office and you are welcome to make an appointment to come to examine it. we are not allowed to distribute copies of the questionnaire.
