Parents/Guardians Junior Triathlon Guide

For many parents/guardians this may be the first time your child has entered a triathlon event.  Triathlon is a fantastic sport and the event on 31st October is to encourage children to have a go in a competitive format.

There are some strict rules for triathlons. Although we want this to be a fun event this guide can help us to run a safe event and for the children to get the best out of their event.

Registration

Registration will open from 10am with a Parent/Guardian briefing at 11am.  This will be held in the sports hall at the leisure centre.

During registration the child will:

  • Be given two sticky labels one for their helmet and another for their bike
  • You will be given their race number on a bib they will need to wear this for the cycle and the run.
  • Their race number will be inked on their leg and their arm (this is by permanent pen and will come off after a few days)
  • At this point please let us know if your child has any allergies to marker pens or latex swim caps

They will be instructed to do the following:

  • Bike can be taken to transition area along with clothing for cycle and run
  • Trainers must be taken to the pool area – there is a short run from the pool to the transition area
  • Once you have put your items in transition you will not be allowed to return to the area unless you are a competitor. We ask that all parents/guardians stay away from
  • the transition area while the race is in progress.
  • You will be able to walk the course if necessary to reassure the competitor – please do not move any markers.

  • complicated to calculate but we will endeavor to get the results printed as soon after the last competitor has finished.
  • Competitors will be required to wear one of the hats provided by the organisers.
  • The lengths will be counted by one of the volunteer marshals on the day.
  • The hat will be taken off on poolside before the child heads to T1a.
