A Level Economics
Examining Board: AQA
Overview
Economics is a social science that studies human behaviour, especially why certain choices are made by individuals, businesses, and governments. We study how markets work and how they fail. In order to do so effectively, we study the dynamics of change at a micro level (i.e. individuals and companies), as well as at the macro levels of governments and international trading partners. You will develop the knowledge and skills needed to understand data, think critically about issues, and make decisions. Economics provides tools for improving how people can live better lives.

Future Pathways with Economics
Economics at A Level is highly regarded by both employers and universities due to the range and depth of study as well as the Assessment Objectives, which require significant intellectual rigour throughout the course.
A degree in the subject is the third highest paid occupation for new graduates and will open up opportunities in Finance, Business, Marketing, Government and Consultancy.
There are excellent Apprenticeship options, e.g. in the Government Economic Service, where we have seen our former students pursue very successful careers.
