Examining Board: Edexcel
Overview
Choosing to study A Level Further Mathematics is an exceptional academic statement that sets you apart as a premier problem solver ready to tackle the universe’s most complex intellectual challenges. Taken alongside standard A Level Maths, this course introduces deeply rewarding, highly abstract concepts—such as complex numbers, matrices, hyperbolic functions, and polar coordinates—offering a profound look into the elegant architecture of advanced logic.
It is the ultimate "super-facilitating subject", actively demanded or strongly preferred by elite Russell Group universities for hyper-competitive degrees like physics, computer science, engineering, and economics. By committing to Further Maths, you are not just practicing higher-level arithmetic; you are developing a rare depth of mathematical fluency and cognitive resilience that signals to top-tier universities and global industries that you are capable of mastering the world's most sophisticated technical fields.
Course Content
A Level Further Mathematics has the following topics:
- Core Pure Maths Content: Proof; Complex Numbers; Matrices; Further Algrebra and Functions; Further Calculus; Further Vectors; Polar Coordinates; Hyperbolic Functions; Differential Equations.
Options Content - Choose to study either 2 units of the same content OR 1 unit from 2 different topics.
