Overview
A Level Physical Education combines scientific knowledge with practical performance and analysis. Students develop an understanding of how the body and mind work together to produce sporting performance, while exploring the social and cultural influences on sport. This highly respected qualification supports progression into careers and degree courses in sport science, physiotherapy, teaching, coaching, sports psychology, nutrition, healthcare and many other related fields.

Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths, Grade 6 or above in PE. You must also play or coach in a sport regularly to a high standard.
How is it Assessed?
Paper 1: Physiological Factors Affecting Performance (30%)
Paper 2: Psychological Factors Affecting Performance (20%)
Paper 3: Socio-Cultural Issues in Physical Activity and Sport (20%)
NEA 1: Practical Performance (15%)
NEA 2: Evaluating and Analysing Performance for Improvement (EAPI) (15%)
Future Pathways with Physical Education
A Level Physical Education provides an excellent foundation for a wide range of university courses and career pathways within the sport, health and education sectors. Students may progress into areas such as Sport and Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, Teaching, Sports Coaching, Sports Development, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Psychology and Nutrition. The qualification also supports careers in Leisure Management, Occupational Therapy, the Armed Forces and Public Services.
Alongside subject-specific knowledge, students develop valuable transferable skills including leadership, communication, teamwork, analysis and evaluation, all of which are highly regarded by universities and employers.
