The Student Character Journey
At Huish Episcopi Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every student completes the Huish Student Character Journey during their seven years with us. Our aim is to provide all students with a rich range of opportunities that develop character, confidence, leadership, resilience, cultural awareness and aspirations, preparing them for success in education, employment and life beyond school.
Throughout their time at Huish, every student is encouraged to contribute to school life, explore new experiences and develop personal strengths. Each year, all students will participate in activities that promote belonging, service, leadership and personal growth. This includes engaging in co-curricular clubs, representing their tutor group or house, sharing their views through student leadership structures, reflecting on their personal development with trusted adults, and learning from inspirational speakers and role models.
The Huish Student Character Journey ensures that every student leaves Huish Episcopi Academy not only with strong academic outcomes, but also with the character, experiences, leadership qualities and aspirations needed to thrive as confident, responsible and successful young adults.
Key Stage 3

During Key Stage 3, students broaden their horizons through sporting, cultural and academic opportunities. They are encouraged to perform, present to audiences, volunteer within the local community, celebrate different cultures, experience residential visits, develop leadership skills and raise their aspirations through visits to leading universities.
Key Stage 4

In Key Stage 4, students build on these foundations by taking on greater responsibility and leadership. They experience professional performances and events, continue their community service, develop leadership across the wider school, present to audiences, gain first-hand experience of workplaces and further explore higher education pathways.
Key Stage 5

In Key Stage 5, students refine the skills and attributes needed for adulthood. They undertake meaningful workplace experiences, develop advanced presentation and communication skills, explore university and apprenticeship pathways, and contribute to the leadership of the school community through senior student position
