Our vision for Health and Social Care at HEA
We aim to empower students by developing skills and knowledge of human growth and development across all life stages, focusing on holistic development and the various factors influencing health, including innate, lifestyle, and socio-economic aspects. To promote excellent health and wellbeing for all.
This subject emphasizes the importance of understanding human biology, including cellular structure and the functioning of body systems, to grasp how common disorders impact health. By applying this to case studies, students develop the ability to recognises needs, interpret date, plan interventions and assess impacts.
Underpinning the course is respecting others through core values, skills, and principles necessary for providing effective care. It highlights the challenges of personalizing care and examines societal factors affecting health outcomes.
In delivering the course the components build on one another supporting the students as they grow in confidence and resilience to succeed. This foundational knowledge is vital for students aspiring to careers in health and social care, such as nursing, social work, and public health.
