Examining Board: AQA
Overview
This course encourages students to develop different approaches to recording images, such as observation, analysis, expression, and imagination. Students explore a wide range of techniques and materials while investigating artists, designers, and cultural influences using sketchbooks and journals to record their ideas.
Course Content
A Level Art & Design will explore the following areas:

Drawing and painting from life

Exploring, using and creating with a wide range of materials

Developing ideas and themes from personal experience

2D and 3D techniques, including ceramics and sculptural forms

Mixed-media, including collage and assemblage
-
Printmaking
-
Photography
Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Mathematics and English Language, and a Grade 5 or higher at GCSE Art, or an equivalent arts subject
How is it Assessed?
Component 1: Personal Investigation, including a 1000–3000-word essay explaining the development of your investigation (60%).
Component 2: Externally set assignment, concluding in a 15-hour exam to produce a final outcome for your studies. This runs between February and May in Year 13 (40%).
