Our Vision for PSHE at HEA

Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) are integral to our whole-school curriculum, with themes embedded across all subjects. At Huish, students also benefit from dedicated PSHE sessions that provide space to explore a wide range of topics explicitly and in depth. Our aim is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in modern society—helping them understand the world around them and their place within it. PSHE offers opportunities to discuss important societal issues that may not arise in everyday lessons, and we take pride in providing a diverse, inclusive curriculum where these conversations happen in a safe and supportive environment.

From Years 7–9, students have a timetabled PSHE lesson every fortnight, complemented by three ‘Drop-Down’ days each year when all students (Years 7–13) step off timetable to engage in PSHE learning with our teaching staff and external specialists. In addition, provision includes bespoke tutor sessions, whole-school assemblies, and a comprehensive Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) programme, ensuring that personal development is woven throughout the school experience.
