Course Content

A Level Mathematics has the following topics:
  • Pure Maths: Proof; Algebra and Functions; Coordinate Geometry in the (x, y) Plane; Sequences and Series; Trigonometry; Exponentials and Logarithms; Differentiation; Integration; Numerical Methods; Vectors.

  • Statistics: Statistical Sampling; Data Presentation and Interpretation; Probability; Statistical Distributions; Statistical Hypothesis Testing.

  • Mechanics: Quantites and United in Mechanics; Kinematics; Forces and Newton's Laws; Moments.

Entry Requirements

 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language, and a Grade 7 or above in GCSE Maths. Grade 6 may be considered in exceptional circumstances. 

How is it Assessed?

  • Paper 1: Pure Mathematics 1(33.3%)
  • Paper 2: Pure Mathematics 2 (33.3%)

Any pure content from Year 12 and 13 can be assessed on these papers. 

  • Paper 3: Statistics and Mechanics (33.3%)

Paper 3 is split into two equally weighted papers, one for Statistics and one for Mechanics
