Overview
This course encourages students to develop creativity, technical skills, and personal expression through the design and creation of textile-based work. Students explore a wide range of techniques and materials while investigating artists, designers, and cultural influences.
Course Content
A Level Textiles will explore the following areas:

Fashion design

Costume design
-
Interior textiles
-
Printed and dyed fabrics

Constructed textiles (weaving, knitting, embroidery, fabric manipulation)

Textile installations and accessories

Digital and traditional textile processes
Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Mathematics and English Language, and a Grade 6 or above in GCSE Design and Technology, Textiles (or an Art-based Textiles course), or Art.
How is it Assessed?
Component 1: Personal Investigation. (60%)
Component 2: Externally Set Assignment, including a final 15-hour exam to produce a final outcome. (40%)
Future Pathways with Textiles
A Level Textiles can lead to a wide range of creative, technical, and business-related pathways in many areas of fashion and interior design, such as Textile Designer, Fashion, Interior, Gift Products, Shoe, or Accessory Designer, Stylist, Teaching, Fashion Journalist, Photographer, Theatre/Costume Designer, or jobs in the fashion retail industry.
It also develops transferable skills such as creativity, problem-solving, independence, research, and communication that are valued by universities and employers.
