Character Education at HEA
At Huish, Character Education is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that success is not only measured by academic achievement, but also by the personal qualities and values our students develop during their time with us.
Our Character Education programme is built around our core values:

Developing Character Through Learning and Opportunity
We aim to teach students what these values mean in practice and provide meaningful opportunities for them to embody every day – in lessons, around the Academy, and beyond. Throughout the year, we deliver themed terms focusing on each value, supported by assemblies, tutor activities, and community projects.
Recognition and Rewards
Students are celebrated when they demonstrate our school values. We recognise their efforts through:
- House Points: Awarded for positive behaviour, participation, and kindness.
- Badges and Certificates: Recognising consistent demonstration of our values.
- Reward Trips: Special events for those who go above and beyond.

Our students are encouraged to develop their character through participation in:

- After-School Clubs: Offering a wide range of opportunities in music, drama, sport, and other enrichment areas that help students to build confidence, responsibility, and teamwork.
