House Competitions

Our House System plays a vital role in creating a strong sense of belonging, school pride, and community spirit. Every student is a member of one of our five apple-themed houses: Bailbrook, Chelston, Lambrook, Merchant, and Pennard. Through friendly competition and shared experiences, students develop confidence, teamwork, leadership, and resilience while representing their house throughout the year.

Students earn House Points for demonstrating our core values, contributing to their house's overall total and helping to build a culture where positive behaviour and character are celebrated. Alongside daily rewards, students have the opportunity to represent their house in a wide range of exciting inter-house competitions held throughout the academic year. 

Our programme of competitions is designed to ensure there is something for everyone, allowing students to showcase a variety of talents and interests. Popular events include The Biggest Quiz, featuring live lunchtime quiz shows, the Huish Bake Off, Christmas Card Design Competition, Huish's Got Talent, Taskmaster, and a variety of sporting competitions including football, netball, swimming, cross-country, and Sports Day. These events encourage participation, teamwork, creativity, and healthy competition, while creating memorable experiences for students across all year groups. 

The House System is about much more than winning. It provides opportunities for students to develop their character, represent something bigger than themselves, and build lasting relationships with peers from across the academy. The excitement and camaraderie generated through these events help foster a positive school culture where every student can contribute and succeed. 

At the end of each year, House Points and competition results are combined to crown the overall House Champions. The winning house is rewarded with a special celebration day, recognising the commitment, effort, and achievements of its members throughout the year.

Through our thriving House System, students develop a strong sense of belonging, pride, and community, while embracing the values that make Huish Episcopi Academy such a vibrant and supportive place to learn and grow.
