Finance, Transport, and Equal Opportunities

Finance

Post 16 students whose family income falls below £50,000 may be entitled to apply for the 16-19 Bursary. Details are available on request. We are keen to remove the financial barriers to learning and will consider all requests for financial assistance as required.

Please see the attachment below for the Huish Sixth Financial Awards Policy 2023-24

Transport

We operate a Huish Sixth minibus for students at a subsidised rate. The minibus route currently runs from Sparkford, Castle Cary, Keinton Mandeville, Charlton Adam and Charlton Mackrell via Somerton. The route has flexibility based on demand. Please enquire at Huish Sixth for details and an application form. In conjunction with Taylors Coach Company, we run a minibus service from Yeovil. We have parking spaces allocated to students opposite St Mary’s Church.

Students bringing motorcycles to school must be enrolled on a recognised training scheme if they do not hold a full licence. If students fail to observe these requirements, or act in a dangerous or inconsiderate manner, permission will be withdrawn.

Equal Opportunities

Huish Sixth is committed to providing equal opportunities for all students who meet the required entry level for the relevant course. All courses are organised and delivered to ensure equality of access and engagement for all students. Huish Sixth is designed to ensure students have equal access to all areas. Students with specific learning needs will be supported by staff from our SEN department throughout their time at Huish Sixth.
