Welcome to Huish Sixth and thank you for taking the time to visit our website. At Huish Sixth I believe we can offer a unique opportunity to study A-Levels and Level 3 vocational subjects in an environment that captures the very best that further education can offer, whilst preserving and extending the very personal support that I believe essential in helping all students achieve the outcomes they deserve.

Our Results

Results 2020

Huish Sixth would like to congratulate all of YR13 for an outstanding 2 years of hard work resulting in some fantastic outcomes. The vast majority of students are going on to first choice universities and apprenticeships. Some of our university destinations include:

  • Oxford: History and Music
  • Exeter: Medicine, Computing, Languages
  • Imperial: Computing
  • Loughborough: Mechanical Design and Technology and Mechanical Engineering

Despite the unprecedented context of these results, we feel that our students have earned and thoroughly deserve the magnificent grades that they have achieved.

Andrew Woodward,

Assistant Principal: Head of Huish Sixth

How to Apply

  • Open Evening

We will be holding our Sixth Form Open Evening on February 3rd 2022, 5pm-7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you at the event. Please note that there is no need to book your place.

  • Application Process

Read through the prospectus and course information carefully. As a guideline we would recommend that most students who have achieved five grades at level 6 or above should consider three to four A Levels. Many of you will already have had a careers or guidance interview and you should consider the ideas in your decision making. Complete the application form to indicate the courses of interest.

  • Acceptance

After you have completed your application you will be invited to attend a meeting to discuss your application. This will take place within four weeks of your application being received

Informed Choice

Informed Choice The Russell Group is an umbrella organisation that represents 20 of the UK’s leading universities. It recently published ‘Informed Choices’, its first ever guide to Post-16 subject choices. ‘Informed Choices’, provided in collaboration with the Institute of Career Guidance, is aimed at students considering A level and equivalent options. It includes advice on the best subject combinations for a wide range of university courses as well as advice on the best choices if you don’t know what you want to study after school and need to keep your options open.

The document contains a wealth of information about Post-16 subjects, and the best combinations for accessing a range of undergraduate courses. ‘Informed Choices’ is explicit about one thing; students wishing to gain entry to Russell Group Universities should study at least two facilitating subjects at A level. These subjects are:

  • Mathematics and Further Mathematics
  • English Literature
  • Physics
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Geography
  • History
  • Languages (Classical and Modern)

‘Informed Choices’ can be accessed through the following link - www.russellgroup.org
